Also, I don’t understand the definition of irony…

Happy New Year everyone!

Let’s get geared up for what will surely be an extra rage filled campaign year!

I myself try to steer clear of any (all really) political commentary as I feel it serves more to agitate  then educate. However with the impending election I’m sure there will be no avoiding the mud massacre slated to occur.  Now I realize that as you grow older so grows your tendency to think that things are getting worst. However I do think we are approaching all new lows (in terms of political rhetoric)  and I’m not only supportive but excited to watch this history unfold and here’s why.  It is with great meditation that I have been able to decode the not so subtle message that is the current GOP platform, which  roughly translates to ” White people galvanize! Let’s take this country back from the blacks, browns, gays etc. and restore the country’s “natural order” where the restraints of civil rights and federal responsibility don’t impede the success of the white man.”

I feel like Neo when he finally sees the matrix as a bunch of numbers.

So now for every stubborn denial of progress, blatant micro-aggression or race baiting attack on the current commander in chief, I hear only bells of justice* as the initial ruling majority now finally gets a taste of what the rest of us have been sucking down for lifetimes. Welcome to the minority, we got fun and games…

So get your gaffs on boys, cause this fight is to the death.

*my justice bell sounds like Guns-n-Roses

Astetics: the default currency or A meditation on our cultural obession with Kim Kardashian

In my experience and understanding of the world, as a woman you are taught early and often that the bulk of your value lies in your perceived desirability in society. So it’s a reasonable thing to appreciate that most women then become hyper focused on improving their appearance and thus the pursuit of perfection begins.  So I’m willing to allow for the reptilian defense and say that there are biological factors at work here and that women, like flowers, are merely working what they got for survival.  I’m also not interested in having  sophomoric discussions about what this means in terms of gender equality because that conversation implies that equality were something that was in itself debatable.  What I am interested in then is the tipping point where these biological impulses crash in on themselves. When the fascination with the perfect silhouette becomes so feverish that the lines and dimensions of a persons haircut is not only an indicator of social status but is analyzed, revered, and copied en masse. And this is before we have even factored Photoshop into the equation! Can we really continue at this pace?  So the question I’m posing is  if this  wave of supernormal stimuli  is now pummeling our cultural shore what will the  beach look like when it recedes?
